Love At First Sight : The Beautiful Unspoiled Beaches Of Macau
Macau is actually comprised of 3 islands, the main peninsula and the adjoining isles of Taipa and Coloane together making up a coastline of close to 41 km long.  Many beautiful and tranquil beaches are found along the coastline providing a wonderful destination, though not as well known as other Macau landmarks,  for visitors and locals alike.  The largest natural beach and one of the best in Macau is of course Hac Sa Beach, located on the island of Coloane. With its unique black-tinged sand ("Hac Sa" means black sand) and at least 4 km long, Hac Sa Beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing or just walking by the sea.  Along the beach is a hostel, a sports complex with an Olympic size pool, children's pool, tennis & badminton courts, as well as playgrounds, picnic areas, beach bars and for hire facilities for jet skis and other water-bound activities.  While you are there, be sure to visit the famous Fernando's Restaurant, considered by many to have the best Portuguese foods outside of Portugal.
Positioned amidst a sheltered cove on the west side of Coloane is the Cheoc Van Beach, another popular destination for swimmers and sunseekers.  Changing facilities and a snack bar are located at one end of this sandy beach, while a swimming pool can be found at the other end.  The Nautical Club, where many different types of recreational watercrafts are kept by its members, is located near the beach.  A pousada (inn), youth hostel, and a number of restaurants can also be found on the beach.  To travel from Macau proper to one of these beaches takes at least 30 minutes by bus, but it is well worth the journey.
